MEET THE NEW LEAF TEAM
SCOTT POWELL, FOUNDER Scott grew up in East Dallas, attended Lake Highlands schools and graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas. He came from a family of engineers and has loved designing, creating, and building things since childhood. He started New Leaf in 2006 and has more than 20 years of experience in the industry. Scott’s greatest desire is to design and build high-quality, long-lasting homes that people will appreciate for years to come. “I place the highest value on reputation, ethical standards and relationships with clients, employees, business associates and friends,” he says.
MELISSA POWELL, CO-FOUNDER Melissa has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Dallas and a master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University. She had a private therapy practice before she joined Scott at New Leaf in 2007. Melissa has an eye for design, and, as a mother of four, knows the elements involved in making a home work for a growing family. She loves having direct impact on the neighborhood and surrounding areas that she calls her own by working with each client to help them select or design their own beautiful new home. Building a home is such an intimate process that she and Scott often develop lasting friendships with many of their clients. “To me customer service means making the process easy and stress-free, designing a quality home customized to each family, foreseeing potential issues before they arise, and turning possibilities into perfection,” she says.
MARTHA VOIGT, VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE AND OPERATIONS Martha is a Texas native who has lived in Lake Highlands for 14 years. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas in Textiles and Merchandising and attended New York University to complete her Finance and Accounting studies to obtain her CPA. She then transferred her suite of skills to Deloitte Consulting, where she led global, cross-functional teams. Martha has always strived to intermingle her love for art, design, fashion and business operations. She joined our team in 2016 after New Leaf built her home in Lake Highlands. “Joining New Leaf brings many things I love together again,” she says. “I believe real customer service comes from truly caring for your clients, working to anticipate their needs, and pursuing excellence through daily practice. I’m motivated by that intention, sincere effort and discipline each day.”

In her spare time, she loves to design and build, most recently a “Hollywood Regency” back patio that is one in a long line of projects to come. “My program at UT Arlington had a strong foundation in architecture, so I appreciate the challenge of combining aesthetics, structure and practicality to create beautiful, functional, perfectly designed buildings that clients love to call home,” she says.
